Lifestyle newborn photography is a combination of natural poses, candid moments and everything else in between. It is done in your own home, so in a space that is meaningful to you.

There is still posing and direction involved in lifestyle photography, but the most important thing is that it feels natural. Here’s what you will do during a lifestyle newborn photo session.
1) Hold your baby in a way that feels natural to you, and interact with each other the way you normally would
A lot of your lifestyle photos will be of you looking at each other, just being in the moment. But there are some exceptions since grandma and grandpa (and us let’s face it) love a good, classic, family portrait where everyone is looking at the camera with their best smiles!
2) Show off your beautiful home
Although your home is just the backdrop, the photos show the love and care you have put into it. You spent time putting a nursery together, a room for your brand new baby. It is so nice to have those first official family portraits taken in a such a personal space.
3) Capture all of the little details
Fingers, ears, nose, lips and toes of course!
4) Have your baby swaddled for a few pictures in a basket, because you just have to have those
This part technically doesn’t qualify as lifestyle newborn photography, but why not include it! I’ll bring all of the bows, swaddles and baskets to you, and you can pick your favourite ones!
5) And do everything else in between
Now this right here is the best part about lifestyle photography. No bells and whistles, just your family doing what you would be doing if I weren’t there. It’s everything you can see in the first group of images below, and so much more. It’s you changing, feeding, burping, comforting, dressing, picking up, admiring, kissing your baby. It’s you making memories and me just happening to be there to document it for you, so you can hold on to those small moments forever.

This session is such a great example of what you can expect from lifestyle newborn photos. I can say so much about them and how they are such wonderful parents, but the photos just speak for themselves! These moments are so precious and I feel so incredibly lucky that I was able to capture them for this family. Now a family of three.
