A Note from the Photographer

Ingrid and Curtis’ wedding was stunning, classic and timeless. We had discussed indoor and outdoor options for their photos as you never know what to expect on Thanksgiving weekend. Their wedding day ended up being as beautiful, warm, and sunny as they could have ever dreamed of. We were able to include some urban elements in some of the photos, and the fall colours were absolutely perfect with the elegant sunflower and succulent bouquets crafted by the talented designers at Creative Edge Flowers.

I always ask the bride and groom what their favourite part of their wedding was, although I know it is practically impossible to pick only one. The same goes for me. I love capturing every bit of a wedding, all of the small moments, the memories that couples will be able to hold on to forever. But if I really had to pick a favourite thing about photographing this wedding, it was how smitten Curtis was with Ingrid. I loved how he looked at her and could not stop hugging her so tight that I actually had to ask him to pull away at times, because I couldn’t see his face while taking their formal bridal portraits! Which in reality is pretty amazing. So I absolutely kept some of those photos even if we couldn’t see his face, because they show just how in love they are.

Curtis, you handcrafted several items for the wedding; what are they and how meaningful was it to be able to use your talent and craftsmanship to personalize those items?

“I made the engagement ring box, wedding ring tray, head table backdrop, venue entrance photo boards and the table card stands. For the wedding decor, it was important for me to include a personal element. We had a vision in mind, and since we couldn’t buy exactly what we wanted, I decided to custom make the items instead. For the ring tray and engagement ring box, it was important to present something to Ingrid that was handcrafted with care and will remain a keepsake for us forever. Fun fact – with the engagement box, I postponed the proposal until the box was ready, so two days after I finished the box, the proposal (finally) happened!”

You two were surrounded by a really amazing bridal party! Ingrid, What was your favourite bridal party moment?

“It was really special to have all my bridesmaids (my sisters) get ready together at my sister’s house the morning of the wedding. We had our hair and makeup done, chatted and laughed together (and did a TikTok haha). It was surprisingly relaxing, and I was so happy we were able to get ready all together. My niece also joined us a bit later, and she always adds a bit of spunk to any occasion 🙂 We also had a great time in the limo, right after the ceremony on our way to photos with the entire bridal party. It was the first time the whole bridal party was together, and everyone was so pumped up and excited – we had lots of laughs!”

What was the best part of your day?

“It’s almost impossible to pick one, but Curtis says one of his most memorable moments is when we were announced by Pastor Kevin as a couple at the end of the ceremony, because he knew he just had married the woman of his dreams. There were so many moments for me, but I loved the brief moments Curtis and I had just the two of us, between bridal party photos and the reception, taking photos at the zoo. Nobody else was around, and it was so quiet and peaceful, we just got to soak it all in. I also loved the whole vibe of the reception – everybody was having so much fun, and it was so great to see so many people we haven’t seen in such a long time. After everything was done, Curtis and I still couldn’t believe everything that had happened – we were so happy, it was the most perfect day!”
