A Note from the Photographer
The two most important things to a wedding photographer are having a couple who fully trusts you and lighting. And this wedding was exactly that.
From the moment that I visited the venue a few weeks before the wedding, my brain starting going crazy with all sorts of ideas of how to utilize such a gorgeous, unique and versatile space. And because Alex and Bradley fully trusted me to visually capture every detail and emotion they felt on their wedding day, we were able to create vibrant photos, lots of candid, and really elegant, timeless portraits.
And I can’t say enough about the venue and the lighting. The heritage house on the property had impeccable window light and elegant chandeliers in every room. And thanks to Sarra, an incredibly talented makeup artist, who brought along her light ring (I’m going to be getting one of those for myself as they are incredible), the grand salon where the bride got ready was a dream to create portraits in. The rest of the venue also had so many incredible lighting features and the clouds outside made for a perfect soft tone. I do realize that I sound like I am writing a love letter to the lighting on that day, but photographers do have a special relationship with light!
The final things that added more perfection to this perfect day: a couple so deeply in love…and a ton of glitter! Oh my, was that dress ever shiny or quoting the bride “could be seen from space”! I could go on forever about Alex and Bradley’s wedding, but I’m just going to let you enjoy the images now.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lawson!

From food to decor and more, how did your friends and family help you bring your vision for an elegant Christmas inspired wedding to life?
“Oh my goodness, when people say “it takes a village” they aren’t kidding. The day before the wedding we had about 20 people in the venue setting up and creating all the pine decor by hand. It took about seven women doing the cooking, my amazing aunts and uncles running the kitchen the day of, and many amazing friends to pull off such a perfect day. I can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work!”

How did you feel during your first look and the moments that followed?
“I was so nervous for the first look! I wanted everything to be perfect, and hoped I looked exactly how he would have imagined me. I’m so glad we did the first look because it was such an intimate moment that we didn’t have to share with anyone else. I would definitely recommend getting all the bridal party photos done before the ceremony. It just makes everything so much more relaxed and zero rushing around.”

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?… If it’s even possible to pick one!
“I have to pick one? I think the first look was my favourite. I got to hang out with my (almost) husband without stressing about what everyone else was doing. Plus, hanging out with Val all day was so fun…it was like having our own personal cheerleader all day.”
