Will I help you prepare? Yes. Will I recommend poses so you can work that dress? Absolutely. Will I remind the groomsmen to take their phones out of their pockets? You bet. Will I be a calming presence when things aren’t going according to plan? Definitely. Will I be your cheerleader and biggest fan? Also, yes.
I’m Val — I’ll give you a hug when the day’s over, and deliver photos that let you re-live every emotion.

“There were photos that she captured that I couldn’t remember her being there for, yet somehow she got the perfect shot.”
“If I could give Val 10 stars I would! What do you say about the woman who captured one of the most amazing days to perfection! From the very first interaction, Val was kind, informative and genuinely the sweetest person to talk to. When we got to our engagement photo shoot she made us feel comfortable around the camera and even got us having fun and forgetting we were having our picture taken. She was amazing with our little one and captured some of the most special photos we have of him.
On our wedding day having Val there brought about a calm and an ease that isn’t easy when corralling a large group of people. She has this superpower of guiding you to move in ways that make your personality shine in all the photos. At the ceremony, Val became part of the celebration, she somehow simultaneously was part of the crowd and yet managed to capture every special moment. Val is a beautiful human being inside and out and we were so lucky to have her be part of our day! We look forward to seeing her again and will be recommending her to anyone and everyone that we can!”

Warm And Vibrant Photos — Just How You Want Your Wedding To Be
Nothing beats capturing your love story in a cozy, rustic, or elegant restaurant, or in front of giant mountains. It’s where my heart is — I moved to Alberta for the mountains and worked in a restaurant for years while spending every free moment I had hiking and snowboarding. As photography went from hobby to career, I naturally leaned towards those settings that already felt like home.
“People commented that our photos looked like they were out of a magazine”
“Val was the photographer for my May 2024 wedding, and let me tell you how fabulous she is! Firstly, we had phenomenal engagement photos – so much so that people commented that they looked liked photos out of a magazine! And then our wedding – honestly, she captured everything so perfectly – from the editorial style (which I like) to those special candid shots – some of my favourite photos of the day were those candid moments she captured! She is truly talented and a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend Val to anyone looking for a wedding photographer in the Calgary area!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you include the engagement session with the wedding package?
The engagement session is part of the process. I love hanging out before your wedding—it lets me get a feel for your style and personality since everyone is different! Plus, it makes things on the wedding day more relaxed and also quicker since I can say, “Remember when we did this or that?” Because the engagement session is so important, pricing is only based on the number of hours of wedding coverage and not on the engagement session.
Do you travel to other cities for weddings?
Yes! I am based in Calgary, and also offer wedding photography without travel fees in rural Alberta within a one hour drive of Calgary, Kananaskis Country, Banff and Canmore. Please note that additional licensing fees apply within the town boundaries of Banff or Canmore.
Do you have a second shooter?
I can provide a second shooter for couples upon request for an additional cost. Otherwise, I’m a solo photographer. We’ll discuss all these details when we meet to discuss your wedding plans.
Do your packages include location scouting?
Yes! If I haven’t been where you want to go, I’ll go check it out before your wedding day. I often do it on my own, but we can also do it together if you want to show me something specific about the location and we are able to make it work with our schedules.

The Girl
Behind
The Camera

I started off my photography journey hiking to mountain tops and travelling with a point and shoot camera in tow. And I took so many photos because I knew that I could only be at the top of a mountain for so long, that my trip could only last so long, but that the photos I took would last forever.
Looking at my photos reminds me of the happy times, the amazing people I have met along the way, of how much I miss them of course, but mostly of how much joy every single experience has brought me. Which is why I have developed a photojournalistic approach to my wedding photography. We will spend time creating beautiful, timeless bridal portraits, but I will spend most of your day acting as an observer with a camera in hand. Just watching all of the happiness unfold, while clicking away to make sure that, when your wedding day is over, you have your photos of all of your happy memories forever.
