A Note From The Photographer

Shooting at The Nash in Inglewood was amazing, and this wedding was pure magic. Becky was absolutely glowing the entire day. Her smile was contagious — so much joy.

She got ready at The Dorian Hotel, which was a dream with its unique eclectic design. You could just tell how excited and happy she was, and then that joy was reciprocated when she came out of the elevator to meet Mike for their first look. We stuck around the lobby for some portraits before heading out — love a good hotel lobby creative shoot. How could their morning have been any more perfect? (it couldn’t have)

And their son, Otto—he was the sweetest little guy. Having him be part of the day added so much heart. I loved capturing all those little moments with him and the whole family. This was one of those weddings that just felt warm, joyful, and so full of love.

Now I just want to be friends with them forever because when you meet people this kind, welcoming, joyful and amazing, you want them in your life forever!

What did it feel like when you woke up on the day of your wedding, and in the moments leading up to your first look, and then walking down the aisle?

“Waking up I felt pretty calm — everything wasn’t until the afternoon — so we got to relax, have breakfast and just get ready for the whirlwind that was about to come. I luckily got to keep moving for the first look, so I was just excited to see Mike. I wasn’t sure what his reaction was going to be; I kept most of my look a secret from him. His smile when I came off the elevator calmed my nerves immediately! Waiting to walk down the aisle, I was teary, but ready. When the song started for me to walk, I couldn’t wait to get out there and see him standing at the end!” – Becky

“Waking up I had a calm feeling. Leading up to the first look is when all the anxiety hit me.  Waiting for Becky to come down the elevator, knowing how beautiful she would look, and honestly just hoping that I would be everything she was hoping for.” – Mike

How special was it to have your wedding after the birth of your son and to have him be there with you on your wedding day and be a part of those memories?

“Having a little one at your wedding is definitely a test in organization! That being said, it was worth every stress and worry having him there with us. He is the best most perfect parts of both of us and getting to share that moment with him will be a feeling I never forget.  Having the pictures we have with him coming back down the aisle post ceremony are some of my most cherished.” – Becky

“Having Otto at the wedding of course added complications, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.  It wouldn’t feel like our wedding without him there.  It is the official ‘becoming a family’ moment and our family is not complete without that little bugger. He seemingly had a great time. Everyone loved being able to hold him and meet him, and I think he helped brighten up an already bright room!” – Mike

What made you decide to have a cocktail style reception and why did you pick The Nash to host it?

“A big formal wedding was never on our bucket list. I am not a very traditional person in general and it just felt like it wouldn’t have been us to be scheduled and formal. When Dominique, the Nash’s event coordinator, suggested a cocktail reception, it just felt like we could have every element we wanted, and avoid the more finicky things like seating charts, etc! We looked at a couple places, but the food, Dominque and the aesthetic really sold it for us. We truly couldn’t have made a better choice in the style of wedding and location! – Becky

“Dominique at the Nash was very on top of things.  She was able to respond quickly to our questions, helped guide us through the process, and instilled confidence in us that the event would go without a hitch.  We had looked at various other venues and each had their strengths and weaknesses but the Nash had everything we needed and had great reviews.” – Mike

What was your favourite part of your wedding day — if you can even pick one?

“There will truly never be a time again when all of our closest family and friends will be in the same room to celebrate us! The smile on my face through the whole day tells the best story.  I think my favourite part was listening to Mike’s vows. It was so perfectly him and I know how nervous he was about saying them in front of everyone. He did such an amazing job, they were perfect, and I am truly a very lucky lady!” – Becky

“The whole thing is littered with wonderful memories, from the morning in the hotel, to the photos in the park, and of course the wedding itself.  I think my favourite part would actually be the entire post-celebration.  After we were officially married, it was so wonderful to see both families coming together and having a great time.  Everyone enjoyed the drinks, the food, and of course each others company.” – Mike

“On our wedding day having Val there brought about a calm and an ease that isn’t easy when corralling a large group of people. She has this superpower of guiding you to move in ways that make your personality shine in all the photos. Val is a beautiful human being inside and out and we were so lucky to have her be part of our day!”
